VisitBritain bringing British suppliers to Brazil for latest B2B sales mission

This week, we welcomed our delegation of British suppliers to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to meet with handpicked Brazilian buyers and travel agents.

British suppliers have a busy programme of meetings with leading travel trade to foster new relationships, driving growth from the Brazilian market to the UK. Brazil is the largest and most valuable UK source market within South America, with 374,000 visits forecast for 2025.

Apply for funds to maket your gateway region in France, Germany or USA

To motivate travel to Britain in 2024/25, the GREAT Gateway Innovation Fund is open for applications. English DDPs, LVEPs, and Scottish or Welsh DMOs can apply to promote their region to international audiences in France, Germany, or the USA. Applicants must engage local industry and deliver an integrated consumer marketing campaign for their gateway or region.

Reaching more travel trade in France

In partnership with UKinbound we exhibited at IFTM Top Resa on 17-19 September, France's largest travel trade fair, with up to 30,000 travel trade professionals attending over three days.

IFTM Top Resa provided a great opportunity for the 16 British suppliers who joined us on the stand to meet face to face with French buyers and travel agents to build new connections, sell British product and do business.

Our forecast predicts over 3.8million visits from France to the UK in 2025, bringing a predicted £1.9billion to the UK visitor economy.

New accessibility feature questionnaires

VisitEngland has now published free questionnaires to help tourism product distributors and individual businesses to identify and promote the key accessibility features in their tourism venues.

Providing accessibility information can help tap into the Purple Pound market, with 95% of disabled people checking accessibility information before going somewhere new (AccessAble).

The questionnaires, tailored by business type, have been created using robust consumer research and include the most important accessibility features that inform trip-taking and are most likely to increase bookings and visits.

New tipping legislation now in force

On 1 October the new Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023 came into force, impacting on how businesses manage and distribute tips from customers.

Key requirements of the new legislation include all tips being passed to staff without any deductions, a time limit on when tips must be paid by and maintaining a record of all tips paid and their allocation between each worker. More legislative information can be found in the Pink Book.
